We are Flotilla 014-05-10 of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Officially, the First District, Southern Region, Division 5, Flotilla 5-10, USCGAUX.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary is the volunteer, civilian branch of the Coast Guard. To learn more about the Auxiliary in general, take a look at our national site. The Auxiliary's national Public Affairs office also maintains an excellent site on the history of the Auxiliary, from its roots in the 1930s through modern times. But we meet in lower manhattan the the USCG-MIO in the Battery.

Our flotilla serves the boating public of the Lower Manhattan and the NY Harbor, providing boating safety education, performing courtesy vessel safety checks, aiding the US Coast Guard in water safety, search and rescue, and communications, and training our members in various areas of expertise to achieve these goals. We are also starting a detachment in upper Manhattan to serve the rapidly developing boating community in that neighborhood.

We are always looking for enthusiastic new members, so if you think volunteering with the Auxiliary might be for you, please contact us.

If you are a boat owner, and would like a free Vessel Safety Check, please contact our staff officer for vessel examinations (the FSO-VE). The vessel safety check is a great idea for new and experienced boat owners alike. The safety check is free, whereas going out on the water without the required safety equipment can have costly or even dire consequences
